################################################################## Bud Mahurin, outstanding fighter pilot with the famed 56th Fighter Group over Europe during World War II, scored 20 kills flying the massive Republic P-47 Thunderbolt and was later credited with 1.5 more. During the Korean conflict, he served with Gabby Gabreski in the 51st FIW and scored 3.5 kills operating the North American F-86 Sabre. Mahurin holds the distinction of being the only Air Force pilot with victories in WWII European theater of operations, Pacific theater and Korea. ##################################################################
